Art or Science?

Is putting an art? Something you simply have to develop a “feel” for? Well, practice will definitely help you improve your “feel”, but it won’t do much good if you don’t have a good understanding of the fundamentals. I believe that with the right fundamentals in place, we can unravel the mystery.

How do I become a better putter?

In my opinion putting consists of five skills:
  1. Consistent setup to deliver the ball straight
  2. Reading the break (learn about the myths and truths as well as a scientific method)
  3. Starting the ball on the intended line
  4. Judging the distance
  5. Keep your cool under pressure

Putt your way to a lower score

We’ve all been told that putting is an important part of the game. It’s “a game in the game”. In any given round you’ll be on the green, putting anywhere between 25 and 40 times. So, if you do it well it provides opportunities to lower your score.
